Sanatan Mandir School Successfully Finishes Second Year of Operation
From August 2009 thru June 2010, Sanatan Mandir School teachers, volunteers and management worked together to provide the most rewarding experience to the students of the school. The affairs of the school were managed to achieve one key objective - create an enjoyable, inviting environment that motivates children to attend the school and to learn prayers, culture, arts and languages. Smiles on the faces of the children tell the whole story - they love this school.
This academic year the student population almost doubled - from 40 to 83. Mandir completed major facility improvement in Fall 2009 to provide space for efficient conduct of the school activities. 29 teachers and helpers volunteered to teach and provide class help. Several volunteer committees and individual volunteers were active during the year for such tasks as registration, record keeping, website, newsletter, library, snacks, coffee/tea, major events and, set up, take down, and clean up. All teachers were recognized at a parent /teacher meeting. Held in May.
Typical school day consisted of one prayer session, one culture or art class, four Hindi classes and three Gujarati classes. Major religious and cultural holidays were celebrated with relevant presentations and activities. Major events included Navratri, Diwali, Shiv Ratri, Holi, Class performances, Quiz Bowl and picnic.
Volunteers have earnestly started planning for the 2010-2011 academic year.
